Both the Voyager 1 and 2 space probes continue exploring where nothing from Earth has been before. With both the spacecraft now over 100 times as far as the distance between the Earth and the Sun – in the heliosheath. This outermost layer of the heliosphere where solar wind is slowed down by the presence of interstellar gas.
In this video, Speaker:Dr. Ed Stone, Principal Investigator of the Cosmic Ray Subsystem tells the story of how “Voyager Celebrates 35 Years in Space” and describes where they have been, what information the are sending back and how both Voyagers will explore the outermost edge of the Sun’s domain… and beyond.
